Phil Salazar

Phil Salazar is a rare individual whose diverse talents are upstaged only by his genuine communication with a live audience. The high spirited sounds of Phil Salazar have often been described as bluegrass, but he draws from a wealth of sources, including Rock, Blues, Country, Jazz, Irish & Scottish, Middle Eastern, and Asian music to achieve his sound, which Salazar describes as “FOLK FUSION.” His energy, enthusiasm and up-front personality constantly keep’s the audience involved in the show. Born into a family of serious classical musicians, Salazar is also a fiddle champion in his own right. He spent many years of earnest study (three years with noted fiddler Richard Greene), appearing frequently with his father’s orchestra. He toured the major cities of the United States with his own groups, The Phil Salazar Band and The Acousticats and with (Nitty Gritty Dirt Band) John McEuen. Currently Phil is touring with his bands Bruce Forman and Cow Bop, Harlem Holler and Jonathan McEuen & The String Lizards and teaching his 60 students.
